Hi! I'm Sophie and I am so glad that you're here. From the time that I was little, I can remember creating, and it was a long time dream of mine to become a world famous fashion designer. The dream evolved a bit, but the itch to create never did.

I fell in love with literature in college and got a degree in English. Now one of my favorite pastimes is reading stories of all kinds. (Historical fiction is my current favorite... WWII era!). In a similar way, I've always felt that photographs and paintings tell stories too. And that's how I got here!

A dear friend of my was about to get engaged, and I was racking my brain trying to think of a gift that would commemorate her special day. After filling frames of watercolors that I had done to brighten up rooms in my own home, I thought, “I’ll try to create something for her!” Something one of a kind that would tell the story of their relationship. That engagement gift lead me to begin S J Watercolors with dreams of using paint + paper again and again to bring your most special memories to life again.

When I'm not reading or recreating stories through paint, I love breakfast-ing with my husband, walking with my furry friend Kora, and traveling to visit loved ones. I am a Christ-follower, aunt, KC local, sweet treat lover, and Trader Joe's fanatic.
